Barite is widely used in industry. Generally, we measures the content of barium sulfate to indicate its purity, but it is usually associated with strontium, lead, silver’s sulfate.Traditional Barite analysis method, because of its difficult separation, easily to make the results of high measurement. The following is the optimized method of barium sulfate measurement 1. Impurity removal process of soluble sulfate, barium carbonate and sulfide Weighing 0.5g samples in 50mL high-type beaker, adding 1+1 10mL of hydrochloric acid solution,after micro-boiling 30min in the cryogenic furnace, then add 10% nitrate solution 10mL keeping micro-boiling 20min,slow quantitative filter, collecting precipitation after slightly cold. 2.Decomposition of sample process by sodium carbonate, zinc oxide semi-melt method The precipitation and filter paper are transferred together to the 30mL porcelain crucible, after the low temperature fully ashing in the Muffle furnace, increases the temperature to 700 ℃, and then add 5g of sodium carbonate, zinc oxide (3+2) mixture solvents, mix evenly, and covering 2g of mixture solvents above them, put into the muffle furnace, start from low temperature and gradually increased temperature to 800 ℃, keep burning 1hour. 3. leaching process of sulfuric acid roots in semi-melt Removing the crucible out and slightly colder, put in the 250mL beaker, add 100mL hot water to leach, use hot 20% sodium carbonate solution wash out the crucible, keeping hot with slow filter paper in 500 mL beaker, and then use the heat sodium carbonate solution 20g/l wash precipitation 6-8 times. The precipitation of the funnel is transferred together with the filter paper to the original beaker. 4. Precipitation and measurement of sulfuric acid roots Using 50% hydrochloric acid solution neutralize to red and in excess of 3mL, regulating the volume of the filtrate to 300mL by water,boiling to remove carbon dioxide, adding 100g/L barium chloride solution 25 ml, evenly stirring after 1min and keeping boil for a few minutes, and heat preservation for half an hour, then static overnight. After slow-rate precipitation filtration by quantitative filter paper,moving it into the 30mL porcelain crucible with the prior burning to the constant.weight after low temperature ash in 800 ℃ burn to the constant weight and weigh. Total content are sulfur in barium sulfate, strontium sulfate, lead sulfate and silver sulfate. 5. Removal process of interference from strontium, Pb and Ag’s sulfate Adding the 50mL (1+1) hydrochloric acid solution to the collected precipitation during the leaching process of the semi-melt. Put it on the low temperature electric furnace,after the micro-boiling,dissolution and precipitation , the filtrate is transferred to the 250mL volumetric flask, and the content of Sr, Pb and Ag in the solution is measured by ICP-OES and converted to in the form of Sr, Pb and Ag’s sulphate. The total content of sulfur in the previous link deducted that measured in this section, the result is the sulfur content of barium sulfate in barite,then convert into barium sulfate. By optimizing the treatment of each condition in the process, this method is better than the traditional semi-melting method, less disturbance than the whole melting method, aim at higher requirements measurement of barium sulfate in barite ores,it could achieve a better effect.(P.S,only available the content of barium sulfate between 15-90% to assure accuracy.)
